Sinthamani Divine Life Ashram

Went to this home today, almost four years after my last visit to deliver some fresh fruits contributed by my company.

Was surprised to see some children lying around the living hall and one of the caretakers, Ms Kalai came and approached me.  She warmly took over the fruits and waited for me to finish taking photographs and then humbly requested for my help to address an urgent matter.

She explained the reason those children did not attend school was due to the three transportation vans' insurance cover and road tax have all expired and not renewed. And they are desperately looking for money to overcome this problem so that the home and the children can get back to their normal routine of attending school daily.

The total amount to pay for all the road tax and insurance is RM2,884.00

I was definitely sadden by this and promised her that I will do something to help.

If you are reading this blogpost, I hope that you can lend these children a big helping hand by making contribution of any amount to the home. It is not a hefty amount and am confident that the children can eventually get back to school in no time.

You may donate to their Bank Simpanan Nasional Berhad (BSN) account with the following details :

He is praying everyday for some good samaritans to come and safe the kids from being absent from school. "Education is my priority, and it is the last thing to see them not going to school." Praveen was telling me over the tele-conversation just now and can't thank you enough for raising this matter over here.

Your generosity in helping this home to overcome their financial woes will be greatly appreciated.

God bless you!

KLANG UTAMA CARING HOME - BURNED

Our recent visit to Klang Utama Caring Home saw children were all jammed into one house together with the girls, the burned down house was the boys' home. It was reported that the fire was caused by a short circuit wire and was lucky that it happened in the school day afternoon where not many boys were in.

We made a cash donation collected from our generous friends which total up at RM2,150.00.

Spoke to the caretaker, Mdm Usah on the phone and the latest update was, there are now 23 girls and 23 boys aged from 1 year 4 months to 22 years old (including 3 handicapped children) registered with the home and they are since renting another double storey house nearby the girls' home and the boys have now settled down.  Their predicament is partially taken care of except the monthly rental for the continuity of the children livelihood.
Mdm Usah was urging the public to drop in and help them in whichever way possible.

2 babies seek donations for heart surgery

KUALA LUMPUR: TWO infants at Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur Hospital here are seeking public donations to help them undergo corrective heart surgery.

Eric Cantona Tuyut James Jeli, 4 months, who weighs 3.7 kg, needs corrective surgery to place two major blood vessels to their appropriate pumping chambers and to close a hole in his heart. The baby had been diagnosed with the transposition of great arteries and a ventricular septal defect when he was 2 months old. Eric’s mother, Roshainie Limpang, traveled here with the infant from Sibu, Sarawak, in hopes of getting his heart condition corrected. “I hope we will be able to raise the RM45,000 needed, so that he will receive heart surgery and lead a normal life. “It pains me to see him going through hardship,” said the housewife.

Roshainie and her husband were unable to pay the amount needed as her husband only earned RM 1,170 a month as a mechanic. They have two older daughters, one of whom has already started school. The adoptive parents of 2-month-old Muhammad Haris Iman Abdullah are also seeking assistance to cover the cost of their son’s surgery. “I am only earning RM2,500 as a mechanic and my wife earns about RM500 as a self-employed baker. “We have an older son who is 9 years old. We are appealing to the public as we really have no other means to finance his operation,” said the infant’s father, Mohd Faizal Hussein.

Haris also suffers from transposition of the great arteries, a ventricular septal defect, a double outlet right ventrical and an interrupted aortic arch. The infant had been relying on an expensive drug called Prostin to keep his heart pumping. Experts say surgery for Haris’ condition is complex, with the total cost estimated to be about RM50,000.

Haris’ adoptive mother, Noorzilawati Cheman, said even though the surgery had an 85 per cent success rate, post-operative care for Haris would be challenging because of the complexity of his heart condition.

Donors can send their cheques made payable to The New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd, with the patient’s name written on the reverse side and addressed to: The Cashier, Finance Department/Charity Unit NSTP, The New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd, Balai Berita, 31 Jalan Riong, Bangsar, 59100 Kuala Lumpur.

Charity Drive 2012 - The Virtue of Giving

Two bus loads of 70 kind and enthusiastic hearts have apparently touched the God up there, that he has blessed us with a sunny day to complete our task of the year, the Charity Drive 2012 to Jenjarom, Banting.

It was a miracle to have the sun shining brightly all day after days of continuous raining. We visited the 2 homes and temple as planned, without much hindrances and hiccups. As the organiser of the event, I couldn't have asked for more.

Although our final program of the day was a little draggy by the video presentation at Dong Zhen Temple which has delayed us an hour from our scheduled departure time, I trust that everyone have had a meaningful day that brought home memories of their kind deeds and the contended feeling of helping the helpless.

Ultimately, our aim to inculcate compassion and loving kindness to our young ones was achieved as we witnessed them giving Ang Pows and goody bags to the Uncles with full respect.  We believe that by sowing this seed of compassion to our little ones, it will then give them a chance to live in a better world tomorrow.

We thank you once again to each and everyone of you, who have contributed in cash or in kind, to make this event a reality.  We truly treasure your trust and support and will work harder to make it better in the next drive.

Before we conclude this posting, we would like to recapitulate the total contribution sum.  It was on location that we received additional contributions totaling RM1,500 hence increasing our final contribution sum to RM30,295.  This is by far the highest amount that we have collected since we started this drive in 2007.

We are truly humbled by all of you who are indeed the Samaritans who claimed no names and expect no exposure to the good that you have done, the help you have offered and remained silent from wherever you are.  You are the man behind the scene, bravo my friends!

Here is wishing you best of health and may happiness bestow on you and family always.
